This is a pair of Tibetan Sonpa Boot made from locally produced wool and sown with thick thread. The body is weaved wool and they are three layers which make the sole including sown thread layer, leather layer and special rubber sole for durability, comfort and practicality.
The Sonpa does not have distinguishing between left and right foot. Making of Sonpa is time consuming by weaving the woolen parts and all hand stitching. No machine is involved except long thread needles.
In the Tibetan dressing, the Sonpa highlights the luxury and completeness. From the herders of Tibet’s highland to the street of London, it still cherishes for personal use, souvenir or decoration purposes.
